Haven't heard of that particular problem - try scouting out Pondoni's Time Machine Troubleshooting site - http://www.pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html - and see if you can come up with a solution.

Have you already installed OS X on the internal drive? How are you trying to restore?

Mountain Lion OS was installed at the store after the hard drive had been replaced. I think the problem is there is a backup of Time Machine and when I try and restore everything it won't happen because I am using Time Machine to do the restore, so there is a conflict. I will try and restore everything but Time Machine and see if that works.

Is there a folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the internal drive (not the backup drive)? If so, delete it and try again.
