Logic Studio Wont Install - iMac 27" 10.8.2

Just got the discs for Logic Studio, and upon arriving home and putting them into my 27" iMac 10.8.2 with 2.8ghz Intel Core i7, 4GB DDR3 Ram and ATI Radeon HD 4850 512mb Graphics card – the mac at first said the disc was unreadable and upon reinstering is now stuck.

Has anyone had similair problems? Does anyone know how I can just install the software?

On a side note, is the 512mb graphics card upgradable in the 27" iMac's?

See "The drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected" > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801

Your Late 2009 iMac has got a replaceable graphic card, but you can only install the same graphic because of the Mac OS X drivers. If you install a different graphic card, it may not be supported

Hi Mende,

Thank you for the speedy response.

The disc is out, via an alternate method. (Shut down then re-boot holding eject key on wireless keyboard - this work.)

The problem is more that the disc is unreadable. Do you know any reason why this mac would be unable to read/install Logic Studio Install DVD V2.0?

What Logic Studio version are you installing? Note that old Logic versions aren't compatible with Lion and Mountain Lion

It surely isnt old, it is the full Logic Studio box set. Logic 9

in fact, the disc has now been re-inserted and the computer is not even responding to it. Is it possible the inbuilt disc reading drive is faulty?

I insterted movies before only to have them skip and be scratched. Does apple replace their faulty hardware if this is the case?

It's possible, but first, try to reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Also, check if your DVDs are not scratched. If not, take the Mac to an Apple Store to get its SuperDrive repaired, because something happens with it
