i am struggling to get my mac calendar to sync to my iphone5. i know you can do it via icloud, but it won't work. Icloud won't back up it just says estimating time remaining... and never backs up. Help?

"Backup" and "sync" are two very different actions.

well I was trying to back up to icloud (because I thought i could sync my ical to my iphone through icloud - but my phone won't sync to icloud.
But I cant work out how to sync my calendar to my iphone either?
Here's the iCloud setup information:
If you set up iCloud on both your Mac and your iPhone, and initiate your iCloud calendar, it should appear on both devices.
