This technique worked the first time like a dream.

But since yesterday my iMessage stopped working on my number and only on my email. I tried repeating the steps that MaheshH mentioned but this time, the text message to that number for activating keeps saying 'Message Send Failure' and 'Not Delivered'. Infact even on reactivating iMessage, no money is being deducted for sending the international SMS that the phone sends to the UK unlike the last time where with each try, Rs.5 got deducted. Could someone please help me with this.

Thanks

Just saying. My whatsapp and imessage work fine on wifi.

Okay my problem's pretty much the same.

Internet browsing working normally, but whatsapp and imessage fail to work on edge.

So? I dug around a bit. And fairly quickly found huge number of posts suggesting I change the APN

Originally it was portalnmms

Suggestions included changing it to www or iphone.

So I did.

Now here's the weird part. On changing the APN to either www or iphone my whatsapp and imessage both started working. Great.

But browsing via safari and other applications failed to work.

Change it back to portalnmms and I'm back to square one. No whatsapp.

This really, really bugs me.

I tried talking to the Vodafone cc. Seriously they need better training on such issues. The guy I talked to didn't know what whatsapp was.

Anyhow. Lets hope I, we get this solved. Pretty sad having 'the' iphone with only half the things working at a time.

Using an iPhone 5, Vodafone, Chandigarh India.

Update : I escalated the issue to Nodal Officer, Mumbai and got a call from Vodafone in 3 days. They not only confirmed that the issue has been fixed, but also went over with me while I did the activation on my phone. It worked like a charm and have worked perfect since then.

Vodafone also reversed all the 55 international sms charges that I had inurred during failed attempts.

Vodafone is the best.

Hey!

Well,I join the club of people having issues activating imessage and facetime over there numbers!

I currently use an Aircel number in Hyderabad, and have an iphone 4S.

Its on 6.1.3,and the updated firmware etc etc .

the basic problem is -My number doesnt get detected-settings>phone>number-UNKNOWN(cannot edit it as well)

neither does it show on top the Contacts screen(in my phone icon).and even on my itunes screen it comes up as-n/a.

Secondly-its been unlocked via gpp sim( and i used it perfectly well on tmobile in the states)but the problem somehow doesnt seem to correct itself here in India.

Both the imessage and facetime work correctly on my email id-but not on my phone number.

Can anyone throw some light on this issue?

P.S-yes i do have balance, and yes my phone sent activation message to the UK number.still no luck.
