This HD work perfectly with MBP mid 2010 and Imac mid 2010 (osx 10.6.8), but when i plug it to TC, TC sent error message "the hard disk must be repaired"

My HD is ExFat format

That......is the problem.

THe USB port on the Time Capsule will support the following formats......Mac OS Extended (Journaled) also known as HFS+, FAT32 or FAT16.

Actually all routers are limited by the amount of space they have for firmware=OS.. computers can load more and more stuff as they have endless amount of space in hard disk for drivers.. routers do not. They use flash ram and it is small. Vast majority of routers cannot read HFS+.. but the TC has to, in order for TM to work.

They are using NetBSD on the TC.. and it may well not have good NTFS drivers.. for instance.

FAT32 is really the only common format. Otherwise all the various OS have their preferred format.

And if you blame Apple for HFS+.. you can also blame Microsoft for not releasing info and keeping rights to use NTFS away from open source community who are forced to back engineer them. HFS+ is open book compared to NTFS.

thanks for this complement. I didn't know that...

I don't blame Apple , own mac able read and write all type HD. Not same from microsoft.

I hate all from them 😠

But it's always same problemes with compatibility. It s not easy for users. So i ll think logic that time capsule could read exfat.

I need transfert more than 500Go to convert my hard disk on mac os ext and reload after 😮

Now I know what my TC didn't read , it's the essential 😉

Thanks all
