It might have been moved or deleted
can you find the orginal sparsebundle?

If it is on an external drive, try shutting down the drive, wait a couple of minutes, and then power it on.
Thanks. I will try it. The drive is on my machine, but the drive to be saved is another machine in the network. Which one is to shut down?
After checking the other drive, I have found that the backup is being created completely. Now, after 14 hours from the beginning, 22 GB have been saved, another 24 hours to go until finishing. Pushing the entire content of that network takes around 20 minutes. What does Time Machine do for the whole day?
