imac paswords - I have to change my password every time I update software. Why does this happen. I changed my password this morning and it still will not let me update Java.

I have to chnage my password everytime I update software. Why is this? I changed my password three times this morning trying to update JAVA and it continues to not accept my password. I change it on the website that I sign into and regirstered my imac (appleid.com). Is there another password setting somewhere that it is referencing?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hi Ron, is it telling you need to change it, or that it needs a Password?

I am trying to login to my work server. They, our IS group, have no experience with imacs and are not sure it will access their citrix which is window based. They suggested that I try their Xenserv application. It gave me a message that my Java needed updated. I downloaded it but it when I try to install it it asks for my password. When I key it in, the drop down box wiggles - I assume it is suggesting that I have the wrong password. Even after I changed it, it still will not work.

It's asking for your OS X admin username/password. If you are logged into an admin account it's that same as you use to login to your Mac, not your password for your work server.
