For iCloud you need 10.7.4 or later. Not available for Snow Leopard.

What ogelthorpe says is true in relation to your question.
There are some hacks to using iCloud with Snow Leopard. One of the keys is you must use iCloud as your primary source for Contacts and Calendars. That is, when you want to make additions or changes to either your calendar or contacts you really MUST do it from the web interface to iCloud. Otherwise you may wind up with duplicates.
