Q: I have a laptop running xp and have backed up to outboard hd. I would like to get new mac laptop but was wondering if i can restore my backup to new mac?

Laptop pc running xp.  Can i restore backup to mac laptop?

    To restore your data from the PC with Windows XP to the MacBook Air, you have to download Windows Migration Assistant and follow its steps. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4796

     

    Also, you can use the backup you created on an external disk, so you can connect it, open Finder, select the external disk on Finder sidebar and restore the data manually to your user folders
