Ok, found the problem, was just saving the PDF as Jpeg, not exporting, where one can choose the resolution. Thanks for all the help. It would be so great if one could directly save the Pages docs as Jpegs!
Thanks I tried that...but for some reason when I open the files in Preview, they are only 150 dpi, I need them to be 300 dpi for the printer, and don't want to up-res that much. These are pages for a photo book, all the photos are added to the pages document at 300dpi, so I don't know why they end up so small after exporting. Any thoughts?
If you are getting only 150 dpi it sounds like you are choosing Better, not Best.
Just Print to pdf and whatever the resolution was in Pages will stay the same.
Must it be jpegs? Most good digital printers accept pdfs now and that will keep your text sharp, not blurred like in the jpegs.

BW,
You will find exceptions to this rule, but it appears that Apple sees little need to load up one application with options that are easily available in another, standard, application. This really makes sense when the feature is generally a bad idea, like rendering a Pages document to JPG with all the blurring and degradation that would result.

BW,
Export the Pages file to PDF in the Best quality setting. Open the PDF file in Preview.app and Export to JPG, setting the level of resolution you desire.
Jerry
BW,
There are many others here with more printing experience than I have, so hang in there and I'm sure someone will come to your assistance. I can't say why your photos would lose resolution.
