My iMac has recently had the left-side screen go dark. I did some browsing and found this is unfortunately common in iMacs. What is your suggestion for the easiest fix? My warranty is up and wonder how much this will cost?

This is not a cheap repair. Suggestion - make an appointment at your local Apple store, let them do their own diagnostics and see what they quote for the repair. How far out of warranty is this iMac?
Thanks for the reply MartinR, It is over a year out of warranty and I do not have any Apple coverage. I figured I would have to go to an Apple store which is unfortunately a long drive for me.
