Ipad mini and Ipod Touch won't connect to latest Itunes

New IPAD mini, old IPAD Touch --updated to latest (new for 2013) Itunes store and my devices don't show up -- I've tried on 2 different laptops. Any ideas? The only new thing on both laptops is a new security program - Kasperski -- I can't find any settings that would prevent connecting, and have trouble shooted thru itunes. Haven't tried uninstalling Itunes -- cuz it's on 2 different laptops...any thoughts?
