Difficulty receiving email

Difficulty receiving email

I can send email using Mail and my iCloud account without problems. I will get a brief notification when a new email arrives but when I open mail there is nothing in my inbox. I logged onto my iCloud account and looked at Mail there, again no email. I can receive email from my google account in Mail without difficulty. This has been going on now for 4 days. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, does any one have a solution?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Have you checked the junk folder, have you checked in your preferences to see if you have any rules set on any of your devices that might move or delete your mail.

nothing in the junk folder. Nothing in my iCloud mail folder. No change in my rules. It started working a day or so after I posted the above. Now having problems again and I have not changed anything in my settings.
