I have tried a different USB port and cable, have latest version of software on both macbook pro with mountain lion and ipod touch gen 4. I have tried re-starting,etc. I think I have tried everything, and still the ipod touch is not recognized. Any ideas?? Thanks for any help. 🙂

Good point. I have tried it on three other computers (2 mac, 1 not) and itunes does not pick it up on any of them, so I guess the problem is with the iPod Touch.
