    Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)

    Note: You will not lose any data.

    Does this trick works on iPhone 5. On mine it just shows the slide to power off, at he end I have to cancel the operation with no results. what can I do?

    iPhone 5 warranty is stiil valid, make an appointment with tha Apple genius.

    if it doesnt work with other fixes:

     

    to continue using the device, turn on asssistive touch in settings/general/accessability/assistive touch

    tap the white dot in the corner, you can simulate the home button from there, i think there is a lock button there too.

     

    To get to settings you need to have multitasking guestures on and do a 4 finger swipe.

     

    try cleaning the button with a soft cloth, there might just be some dirt in there.

    Thanks ckuan. My (not even one year old) iphone 5's home button started playing up really badly yesterday - had to press very hard about 5 times everytime for it to do anything.

    I just did a hard reset as per your suggestion and it seems to have fixed the issue - am a happy person again now!
