Unable to backup iPhone

I keep getting the message not enough storage when my phone tries to backup to iCloud even though it says i have 4.9 of 5.0 GB available. I turned off icloud on my kids' ipods and my ipad and i deleted backup of everything except contacts, calendar, and photo streaming my iPhone 4S. How do I get my phone to backup?
