I can move my mouse on track board but nothing else works even pushing enter will not engage any program. But my mail is still coming in. Can not open any program. MacBook Pro 17 in

I can move curser across screen on track board but cannot open anything ,even if I push the enter key..also the bottom corner of battery pack where it locks in is slightly lifted. It turns on and off , gets mail but nothing else as I can not open any program. Including about my Mac.. I was using snow leopard.
