Beware auto renewal of subscriptions

amazed that my iTunes account which alerted me to auto payment about to be billed to my credit card did not also inform me of how I could elect to turn it off, in other words no choice! I had to spend half an hour to find out how to do that via the forum page whihc was very helpful... but hey, sharp practice or what?
