Error 3902

I am trying to connect an Apple TV Model A1427 to A Netgear N600/WNDR3400 router through WIFI. Every time I try to sign in I get a 3902 error on my Apple TV. Indicating I have a connection problem. I can connect using an Ethernet connection from the Apple TV to the Netgear router. I have updated the Netgear router and Apple TV with the latest available software and still have the same problem. What will correct the WIFI connecting problem?

Thanks

Apple TV, Windows 7, Netgear N600/WNDR3400

Hi all. Am a below average person when it comes to technical matters, can anyone help a bit more, something idiot proof please? The error 3902 seems to be an issue for a long time and the solution does not seem to be that straight forward for someone of my level of knowledge. I have asked at the Apple shop specifically how to do it when I bought yesterday, and they assured me that is ver easy: just connect to the network... My play station was really easy, but Apple TV not!

IF someone has the time to explain step by step on how to go about it I would be grateful! I have seen around terms like WEP and DHCI etc, but have no clue...

Ihave most of my electronic products from Apple, great staff, but when it comes to support, they couldn't care the less!

THanks

M

From what I understand, I’m not a techie either, the 3902 is an Apple error code meaning no connection. This is even in the connection process before ID and password identification. From reading some of the prior posts this is a common problem with many causes. My problem was the Apple TV security was not in sync with my Netgear router security so they could not connect. Netgear customer support suggested through their email support system I try WEB level security. They also sent detailed instruction on how to do the change. Their device manual also covered how to change the security using the software supplied with the router. I didn’t ask about security but just asked for help.

Good Luck
