incorrect display in finder window

Somehow an "icon" - "Scan.jpeg" is showing now in Finder under "PLACES" on the left side of the Finder window. It appears above "Desktop" under ∇ PLACES. Have tried to delete or move it to trash, but unsuccessfully. I have tried to locate it but have no idea where to find it. Have run a search in Finder with no luck. It is really bugging me that it is there. Can anyone tell me how to delete it or move it to the trash?
