I have a Macbook Pro, an iPad3 and an AppleTV2. I have homesharing turned on, on all three devices - using the same Apple ID. My atv doesn't show any computers. I re-set the router (Netgear), re-set the atv to factory settings, rebooted all devices and still nothing. And I have the firewall turned off on my Mac (which uses OS 10.7.5). Any suggestions on what to do to get this working?
If this was all working and then suddenly stopped, and If you have a verizon fios router (made by actiontec) try looking at the advanced settings and see if the "igmp" is enabled. If it is, disable it and see if everything starts to show up.
No it has not worked before, I was just setting it up a couple days ago. I have my own router, a Netgear brand. Internet is through Comcast/Xfinity.
The usual cause for this is not using the same Apple ID to create the Home Share on each computer or device. It does not matter what each individual machine is signed into itunes with and can be different.
So if this is the case turn off home share and reactivate using the SAME Apple ID on each machine
I only have one Apple ID. I turned off homesharing and reactivated making sure the Apple ID was correct and still nothing.
All i can do then is point you at the Troubleshooting guide. I hope that helps
I've done everything in the troubleshooting guide. Was hoping someone on here had a trick or knew why I'm having this problem. I'm stumped.
After a week or trying I've finally figured it out. Have to UNCHECK "enable wireless isolation" on the router settings and everything started to finally show the libraries, on iPad3, ATV2 and MacBook Pro. YEA!
Glad you resolved it. Routers can be really complicated sometimes.
