My iphone 5 earpods say "Designed by Apple in California Made in China" Are these legit?

A friend of mine bought knock offs, but I never noticed this inscription on the cord till now.

I bought the iphone 5, my earpods came straight out of the box.

Hers do not have this inscriptions and my brother doesnt have it either. (He also has an iphone 5, earpods came out of the box)

Are these her knock offs? Help please. 🙂
