Printing trouble with Tiger & HP LJ 4600

Since upgrading to Tiger, i've been having trouble printing with my HP LaserJet 4600. It is connected via Ethernet to my router, which I connect to wirelessly. Upon upgrading to Tiger a few months back, my Mac became unable to print--error messages claimed it could not connect to the printer.

I tried to add the printer again in the Print & Fax preference pane, but it gave me the error "client-error-request-value-too-long." I then tried the usual set of troubleshooting steps (repair permissions, etc.), but the error message was the same. This was strange because no other Mac on my network had trouble seeing or printing with the 4600, and there are about five or six others at a given time connected either wirelessly or with Ethernet.

So today I tried reinstalling the HP drivers from my Tiger install DVD with Pacifist, then updating with the Universal version from HP's support site. I got the same error message, so I'm tapped. Any ideas?

Yep, still the same error message. I'm really trying to keep from doing an archive & install because time isn't really on my side this week (but all the other things I've tried might have added up to the amount of time it takes to do it, but that's beside the point). If you can think of anything else that would be great, otherwise I'm going to assume it's gotta be an archive & install. Thanks for your help.
