You have to absorb the expense, but
I use PDFpen for serious PDF manipulation. http://smilesoftware.com/PDFpen/index.html
That might be something to do with your problem. Who knows.....?
Is there a reason you are running case sensitive?
If not, (and I have been where you are), I would;
Make sure there are no file confilcts.
Make a clone of your HD as is using your preferred method.
Boot from the clone/recovery/DVD and reformat the original drive as MacOS Extended Journaled, and make sure the volume format is GUID.
Then clone back.
What does that mean to "run case sensitive" ??
I do not understand your instructions
As an example it means as far as your computer is concerned, there is a difference between word and Word. If you had two documents labelled documenta and documentA, most computers would treat them as the same file. Yours doesn't.
If you don't know what a case sensitive volume is and you've neither been asked to set it up like that or had somebody specifically do it for you then you probably don't need it.
Anyway, very importantly what backup strategy do you have.
I use the Time Machine. There are no special settings in the System Preferences
Make a complete backup, then erase and reformat your drive so that it is not Case Sensitive. Who set it up this way, it is not as it came out of the box.
I'm going to suggest that someone else pipe in here as I don't use Time Machine.
But what you need is a volume to boot from while you erase the one you are working from. That volume can either be the recovery partition or another OSX installation. Preferably IMO another up to date OSX installation.
I will have to call the Mac support on Monday. Until then good night folks, and hope that the issue will get a solution (which I will report)
Good night, post back after the call, I'm curious.
The Mac support does not know what the problem is. They suggest to contact Adobe. But I think that is a complicated storry. Do they have a Forum ?
You need to reformat your disk, this is your problem, not Adobe (they did not set the file system as case sensitive) Fix that first, your just spinning your wheels until you do.
See my post below.
OK -it seems I have to reformat
By the way, I tested an alternative to Preview, named Pdf-pen. They have a trial version which will leave a water mark on your pdf and you cant get rid of that without buying their product. How could I get rid of the Pdf pen watermark ? this is a policy. Is it legal to do so ? I mean, a consumer who just wants to test discovers that his files are watermarked and cant get rid of it.

No idea how to remove it, ask the developers of the software, or buy the product.
The app developers set the rules for their trial, it is legal.
My sense of consumer rights tells me this company is profit seeking to an extent which is barely legal.
I am not willing to buy from this kind of company.
