Should I wipe my iPad before it goes into repair

I have scheduled my iPad to go in for a repair, but should I wipe all data on it or leave it as it is. It's not that I don't trust Apple, it's just they didn't specify if I should wipe it or just send it to them as it is.

That is up to you. You definately want to back it up as if there is something that needs fixed and they have to replace the unit, you won't get the same one back and then if you didn't back it up, you'll have no way of getting your data from it. However, I personally would sugest it as it wouldn't hurt and I never know who could get a hold of it. Plus you know then that your personal data is protected.

True, but don't you think Apple want to see what happened to the iPad in it's current state? If they are to see what happened to it, you ought to give it to them in the same condition so they can see the problem, in order for them to check it and possibly fix it, don't you agree?

Yeah, I agree with that as well, but if it is a hardware problem then what you have on it isn't going to matter. If it is a software problem, then when you wipe it, whatever the problem is won't exist anymore.

As far as I understand it, they don't fix your iPad as much as they diagnose the issue, determine whether or not it qualifies for warranty repair, then send you a replacement - likely a refurbished one.

You can do a combo if you want.....back up your device. then remove any info you don't want them to access - doing it on the device, nto through iTUnes, then send it in for repair.

The iPad isn't modular, it doesn't really have parts you can replace, which is why they normally replace the whole unit.
