Have you unknowingly picked it up from Facebook or Twitter? Use Spotlight to check it out. Alternately, check for hidden apps.
Thanjks for message.
I am not sure, but when i click the update , it show's someone else's email address.
May be I have some worng apps or something in my computer, but I can't locate the apps.
On the other hand , other MAC (Macbook AIr) seems no problem. Iam trying to compare
all the apps. But having a hard time...
The apps themselves won't be wrong. They will have been consciously loaded.
But you can only update them by using the the same details that were used to download the original app.
If you can locate the original ubikreader app, you can delete it using AppCleaner or similar. That is why I suggested using spotlight to find it. The update notice will disappear with the deleted app.
I tried, but I don't have this apps "ubikReader" in my computer.
I also tried the email address ( App store was indicating on updating UbikReader) thru my computer. But nothing comes up related the email address.
It seems decidedly odd. I think you should write to Apple and ask why you are receiving update notices for an app that does not register on your computer. But first read the link below.
Hi. Thanks for your advice. It is odd. I tried to find the problem apps thru entire computer. I even throw away suspicious apps that were old including the little snitch. But in spite of all the attempt, apple updated showing to update the ubikreader. I was almost gave up and decided to contact apple. Then when I reboot my back up hard drive that I used to make a clone using the super duper. Some how, the back didn't show the update notice.
Now, I am trying to make the clone from the back up hard drive.
Hopefully, this would fix the problem.
If this works, in last two days, I must hit some wrong web site or download some file that linked to apps.
Strange, enough..
I will let you know if this works.
Yes, I hope you do let us know. It would appear you had downloaded UbikReader at some point after all, and the possibility of a fragment or all of it hanging around in a clone would explain why the App Store continued to offer the update.
Spotlight should have found it but a very useful app in circumstances like this is EasyFind.
After using back up to make a clone,( from back up hard drive to cloning the iMac 24" (2008) OS 10.82 ) the App store update indication for UbikReader was disappeared. However, Gmail POP forwarded mail to iMac was lost for last two days(The web mail to Mac's Mail account) and Drop Box, Little Snitch had some problems and needed to re-set. Otherwise, this method worked, using Super Duper.(didn't use the Corbo Copy Cloner)
It took me 4 hours+ last night, but works fine now.
The externalHard drive was cloned two days ago.
So I must got some glitch, either while updating iMac from app store or thru some web sites.
Thanks again for your support.
regards
So pleased to here all is well. Thank you for the star.
same issue is being faced by me. i cant find ubikreader in applications and in spotlight search but app store is constantly giving me notice of update available and user name memtioned for this update is peter.chmel@chello.at . how can i get rid of this update notice
thks
As i posted, i had the same problem. Did you also got the HP update notice at the same time? It seems that when I got the two notice , HP update didn't finish correctly. It stuck some wehere. Then UbikiReader stayed on notice no matter what i did until I decided to re-install the entire Mac from Back up hard drive with using the SUperDUper. I feel that this might be related to new HP updtae and it might have a bugs, or something else.
I have just fed the peter.chmel@chello.at . into Google and there are pages of curious references to the name. To be honest, I simply don't understand them at all. I hope one of our more senior contributors will offer an opinion.
I suggest you ...
Download the EasyFind app (it's free) and apply it to both ubikreader and the name peter.etc. Then delete every reference that appears. Anything that won't go set AppCleaner onto it.
Let us know what happens.
I had downloaded EasyFind and try to find this UbikReader but unfortunately it doesn't show anything. The update of UbikReader still there. i'm just fed up with this stupid update. I think it's a Virus !!!
There are no known viruses on Macs, at least none I have seen reported.
Whatever Ubikreader is, simply feed the name into google and settle down to read. As it seems there are many ways of contracting Ubikreader it would be best to check out these pages and links to see which may apply to you.
We, here, cannot know where you have surfed and therefore where you came into contact with it..
