Q: Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. No Sound Output Routing Available

Hi. All of a sudden my Mac Pro doesn't display the Saffire option for sound output. The Saffire appears in the input stage (Settings> Sound) and I can see that external signals are getting in (via the Focusrite mixer).

The firewire is connected fine (illuminated).

I have downloaded the latest drivers.

I have checked for available system updates (all fine there).

I have also checked that I haven't muted the outputs (just in case).

The main problem seems to be that the audio output option to route through Saffire has just gone. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys!

I'm having the exact same problem on my Saffire Pro 40 and I've already contacted Focusrite with no response in the past several weeks. Would you guys please be able to send me the Dice Tool for Mac? My e-mail is muse83ru@gmail.com. Thanks in advance!

Agree with you, the email response time is bad.

I have had instant results though catching their live chat on the website. I believe it is available 9 am  - 6pm GMT.

From what I understand, the dice tool has to be configured for each individual flavor of macbook. Down to the cpu speed, ram, hard drive capacity, etc.

I believe I might have the dice tool somewhere for a mid2012 13" macbook pro with 2.1GHz i5, 4GB ram, and a 500GB hard drive. It probably also ties into the OS, which I believe I was running 10.7.5 at the time.

So unfortunately, I probably cant help you. You have to give your exact specs to Focusrite and they will configure a Dice Tool fix for you.

Sorry for the troubles. It's disappointing the issue still cannot be fixed with all hardware being shipped.

thank you very much for your quick reply!

at least now I have an idea of what to do, and to mail them directly with all the specs

so stupid that it's still like that isn't it

I used a firewire 1814 M-Audio before, and never had any trouble installing, and using

too bad they stopped making them

    Cheers

Hi mate, quick reply as I'm not at my machine (using my mobile). Anyway, the dice tool resets your firmware on the Safire pro so if anything goes wrong then you're screwed as your warranty/ guarantee would be invalid as the tool was applied without proper instruction from the focusrite guys. I do appreciate that this will be frustrating (I've been there) however the guys at focusrite will help you out.

I'm guessing you have downloaded the latest driver? I mention this as there was an update to the driver and when you run it it looks like it resets the firmware. Worth a shot if you haven't done already.

Again, I know that this is frustrating but, and I'm sure I speak for many on this forum, we would hate to offer a solution (the dice tool) only to find it was incorrect and made things worse.

    Good luck mate.
