Nope. You the man! However, this is not Apple. This is a user forum. We're all users like yourself. But, you still the man!
wow dude, i have the same macbook pro 15" 2008. it just died on me after 850 cycles.
Wow, we ought to save this thread as a crowning achievement. Like those million-mile BMWs out there.
Replace the battery NOW! Apple advertising says up to 1000 cycles, not past 1000 cycles. You are making them look like liars and they may send a goon squad after you, take away your MBP and force you to use a PC.
A wooden nickel says you won't make 3000 cycles.
Ciao.
I'm up to 1,948 cycles now. I actually recently had to buy a new power adapter would you believe as the old one stopped working.
I also just had the screen cable replaced, which also went, and likewise cost me almost 200euros!
I'm surprised your battery went after 850, and I'm surprised noone else has gotten this much usage!!
Running off the battery, it last's maybe for around an hour or so, depending on what I'm doing. So the life has definitely gone down a lot.
But running off the power it's fine, what's the point in wasting €140 on a new battery! The charger cost me €90! I think Apple must make lots of money on replacements like that!
Though one might hope for more, but 850 cycles is not that unreasonable, especially when compared with the prior removable batteries which were rated at up to 300 cycles. The results you have achieved are certainly remarkable. Maybe the Pope visited the factory and blessed the one you have.
Best of future luck with your battery.
Ciao.
I'm on 1300 on my mid 09 MBP hopefully i last as long as you are
