What does airplay speakers mean?
I'm just getting set up on appletv, it refers to AirPlay speakers. Do I have to buy special speakers?

No your Apple TV will play audio to your TV through HDMI or you have optical audio output for say a sound bar. Airplay speakers are an option if you want wireless speakers that can pick up your music from a device but not necessary for ATV.
