Changing usership/ownership on iPad without deleting

Hello --

I inherited my mom's iPad after she passed away in April. I began using it immediately but did not want to change or delete anything, as it had many photos, videos, music etc that was had become very precious in her passing. Now, several months later, I have a weird mix of her stuff and my stuff, and that's totally fine with me BUT I would really like to sync iCloud and also be able to update apps under my own Apple ID instead of hers.

Is there anyway to change the default Apple ID and iCloud account WITHOUT deleting all of her content and/or restoring to factory settings??

Thanks!

iPad

You cannot combine purchases from two different accounts into one account. The apps that your mom bought will always be tied to her ID and you will always have to use her ID and password in order to update those apps. That same rule applies to all purchased content in the iStores on the iPad or in iTunes on your computer.

You will also want to take heed of signing in and out of accounts in order to download past purchases with different Apple ID's. you can lock yourself out of your own ID for 90 days if you are signed into your mom's account in order to download previously purchased content.
