Unfortunately, you did not provide us with any information about the troubleshooting steps regarding what you have already tried, so we don't have much to go on here.

Once you connected the printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme.....

Did you remember to "install" the printer again at that new location using System Preferences > Print & Scan?

Bob -- Hoping that you can help: Ok...here goes...

About a week ago we started noticing wonky stuff happening to our network: 2 Macs; 2 iphones; ipad; airport express as print server; 2 VOIP units; and a PC we use to stream TV [sic]...all connectred thru an Asus RT N56U. The problem presented as dropped wifi signal; and dropped abiltiy to print. I tried all kinds of things to no avail. Thought that the dropped signal may have been due to ios7 conflict [it started happening at about the same time]...

  • assigned static IPs to all our devices
  • made sure router & airport were on different channels
  • tweaked router to 2.4 & 20 mhz
  • removed b/g protection
  • updated firmware on router
  • etc.
  • router can see print server, but USB printer not showing up in printer preference panel
  • reprogrammed APex; changed name of print server
  • powered up APex & printer per Apple's instructions
  • reset printing system, eliminating all printers
  • rebooted CPUs, zapping PRam
  • checked for conflicts w/launch agents...

Prolly did too much and i was getting dizzy

[though i did backup settings] so....

Finally: reset router to factory defaults,

created new network name/keys

and it seems to be holding...

but STILL can't see the USB networked printer

[though router recognizes the APex]

and get the "printer not connected" prompt in the print status window

when the mac mini and MBAir can see the printer

[most times won't be seen in printer list; or in available printers list]

I'd really like to print...

and is anyone else seeing wonky WIFI issues

since the latest ios7 update?

thanks ;-)))
