iMessages not sending

Why won't my iMessages send? I'm connected to the wifi and they was working a few hours ago and all of a sudden they just stop sending. The sending bar gets millimetres from the top and stops.

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.0.2
