Migration Assistant still has some issues that need to be ironed out. I have experienced similiar issues when migrating data. The only fix that I have found is to try it again. Ethernet is definitely the way to go.
Is this a new MacBook Pro?
If yes, remove your user account from it, don't make another and use Setup Assistant instead.
