Printing from my iPad

We have a Kyocera office copier/printer in the office and I really need to print from my iPad. Is there any way I could print from that? Currently I have to email to myself then print from my laptop ( not cool) I might as well do the work on my laptop.

You need an "air print compatible" printer, to print from an iPad, or.....some other type of printing software.

For a list of "air print compatible" printers, check here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356.

If you don't have an "air print compatible" printer, check out the applications available from the iTunes / Apps store. Simply launch iTunes/ Apps store on the computer and select iTunes Store, or launch the iTunes Store from your iOS device. Search out the key words "iPad Printing".

there is not going to be an easy solution. for the pad to print, you need an airprint compatible printer ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356) or an app that would route your print job through your pc, on the same network.

There are some devices now being made for office envirnments (such as xprintserver http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver-t3.html ) that you put on your office network. Your IT guys would need to agree to this.

The key for printing is:

The aforementioned having an airprint enabled printer which you can use natively, no other apps needed.

Investigating to see if your printer manufacturer has any solutions.

Third party apps, such as print n share, print central, printopia

About everything operates on the presumption that the printer and the iPad be on the same wireless network.

What you might look into is investigating some program that allows you to upload your document to the cloud, which will automatically download onto a computer hardwired to the printer and then print. I know my kodak printer has that ability using google docs (I never investigated it because I didn't need to print badly enough to get yet another online account)

But rigging up a local print server (which is what that hardwired computer would be) is likely the one thing that'll work in an office environment. and it's still contingent upon you having wifi or internet access to upload your document from your device to that computer.

I'd dig around on Kyocera's site to see if they have any solutions for your situation. I'm not sure if your printer is a more consumer grade or a professional grade, but ours at work, for example, can be set up to also be a scanner. I can put a document in the printer, scan it and have that scan e-mailed to me. So it could be possible that your printer may have the ability to have documents directly e-mailed to it. So digging through teh site or manual could reveal some options you may not even know your printer offers.
