Does my iPad give off "blue light" as does an iMac and other PCs?

I've read (today's NY Times) that blue light is radiated from computers and will keep one from falling asleep at night. Thus, one should not use a computer in the hour prior to going to bed. Is this a true?

According to the research I can find, it would apply to any device that emits blue light; a computer, an iPad, a TV or even a blue light bulb. LCD displays emit more blue light than did old CRT-type displays, apparently, so any LCD device would, if this research is valid (the studies seem to be on very small samples) have more effect.


I don't know what the NYT posted today - I don't see anything new on the subject in the online edition - but this article from 2011 seems to have a pretty good discussion on the issue:
