How to shape VM network traffic in OS X?

Hi,

I am thrying to use ipfw to shape the network traffic coming from a VMWare virtual machine. It looks like that is not possible (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4736134).

Does anyone here know what the OS X way of doing this is?

I am looking into pfctl, but that doesn't seem to have the shaping features ipfw has.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

I have never used it, but the Network Link Conditioner in Xcode seems to be what you want to use.

Thanks, I looked at that, but as far as I can tell there are no settings to shape the bridged (VM) traffic.

Note that the OS X kernel is compiled without ALTQ support, so the features of pf that depend on it won't work.
