Deleted photo keeps coming back on my iPhone

I am having problems with my iPhone 4s storing a photo I deleted a long time ago, both from the iPhone itself, and manually from the photostream on my mac. It no longer seems to show up on my Mac in photostream or events, but shows up on my iPhone as its own event. There's no way to delete it from the iPhone event itself, so it appears that I am stuck with it. I am at a loss for where this photo is even syncing from, as I have already deleted it both from the device itself and from my mac....Sort of bizarre how difficult it is to get rid of photos once you take them.

I have also already tried turning on and off my Photostream on my iphone, resyncing manually by attaching to my computer and resetting my iCloud Photostream.

Any other suggestions or ideas on how I might get rid of this??

Yes, but what I'm saying is, i want the photo deleted from BOTH devices. Not simply to stop syncing...

What's strange is- the photo isn't even on my mac anymore! I've already manually deleted it from the iphoto photostream. I've double checked it's gone by scrolling through everything in the iphoto photostream and my photos multiple times and checked.

So where is the photo coming from?

It's only showing up on my iPhone in events right now, but strangely it doesn't show up anywhere on my mac events...

I've already tried removing the sync in itunes but I will try again, I guess if that is the only suggestion. My guess is that when I add the sync again in itunes, that photo will magically reappear again, as it did last time...

Okay, after some research, I ended up solving my own problem!

For those who have the issue of deleted photos reappearing on your iphone, you should go in and manually delete photos from your iPhoto Library Folder on your computer by following this sequence of directions:

Open Finder- Select Pictures- Select iPhoto Library (right click- click show package contents)- look for the photos under their prospective dates in the 'originals' 'modified' 'thumbnails' 'masters' 'previews'.

Drag the 'iPod Photo Cache' to the trash.

I had the same problem and have found the solution with help from Apple support. Somewhere in your iPhone the old deteled albums are still alive, but sleeping. After every software update they will awake. The only solution is to reset your phone to the default settings (factory settings) using iTunes. Before doing that, make sure that you have all your data in the cloud (schedule, contacts, pictures etc.). You can secure your apps also using iTunes. Perhaps the only things you have to write down are your e-mail settings and you notification sounds. After saving all your data reset your iPhone and install the latest update. Copy all your data from iCloud and make a new backup of phone. This will fix the problem.
