Can you convert an iTunes album, into MP3?

If you buy and download an album on iTunes and want to play it on a burnt CD in the car, how would you go about doing this?

I'd have thought you could export it from iTunes as MP3, or use an iTunes tool to export "to CD".

Need a bit of advice please.

Just seen how you do it.

After you have created the playlist to burn, does it keep the playlist? I guess it does, so you can make another copy if you choose to.

That's clever.

I'm not an "Apple user", so investigating various parts of the iTunes and iPhone arena. Previously I thought iTunes was a bit of a nightmare to deal with, but so far, seems very straight forward and fast! And I like how quick it finds music to purchase.

Even tho you can create CDs, can you convert tracks to MP3?

No, those settings in the screen shot in rmgman's post are for burning a CD. That's why the window says "Burn". The support article I linked to in my post below gives you step-by-step instructions for converting a track to another format.

As to playing those tracks on another player, it depends on the player. If it's an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you just sync the playlist (and there would be no need to convert). If it's some other brand of player, you'd use whatever procedure that player has for copying tracks to it.

No I didn't mean how do I get a track to another player, as I totally appreciate that part is down to me - not Apple or the forum!

I just looked at those settings and it all appears to be about importing, as AAC, or MP3 etc.

Surely you import as default settings, and then if you want to export one or more tracks, such as a CD you bought on iTunes, to MP3 to use "externally", you have to select multiple tracks, ie, in a playlist, and then "Export > As MP3" for example.

Think I am really missing something here.............Sorry.

I'm totally with you now.

Because I have changed that setting to MP3, when I do the right click, that is what makes "Create MP3 Version" appear.

Bingo.

New question, (not sure if should be for this thread, but here goes), if I had an iPhone and bought a CD from iTunes and downloaded to my phone, would it automatically appear on my laptop when I started up iTunes, or would it only show when i synced my iPhone with the laptop?

I know iCloud does some of this, but not sure how it all works.

I'm not an Apple device user. Just trying to understand how it all works, as I could be a converter!!

It depends on how you have things set. You can set all your Apple devices, including iTunes on your computer, to automatically download all purchases made through your iTunes Store account. If you do, then a purchase made on your iPhone will automatically be downloaded to your computer when you launch iTunes. Otherwise, you will either have to sync your iPhone or download the track to your computer, which you can do without charge.
