my output sound will not work when headphones not plugged in. there is no red light in the headphone jack.
When I try to turn up/down my volume via keyboard controls it shoes as turned all the way up but below that is a crossed out circle
I didn't change any settings to my knowledge
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Option click the speaker icon in the menu bar and see if the Internal Speakers are listed or not.
Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
If this does not help, you may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have the computer and battery checked out.
