Jan 23, 2013 1:30 PM in response to problem22by sberman,At the time the iPad 2 was introduced, there was clearly no expectation of being able to do a personal hotspot.
Neither Apple nor any computer vendor has any obligation to retrofit newer features into older hardware.

Jan 23, 2013 2:47 PM in response to sbermanby problem22,The ipad can be tethered with use of unapproved apple software, so I don't see why it would be so hard for apple to just add the button. I mean when they make a new operating system they include everything then take things out for the older generations of devices. So from this we gather that tethering is possible and apple just takes it out because I spent 629 dollars two years ago and not last week.

Apple didn't take the feature out, though. It's never been a feature of the iPad 2.

Jan 23, 2013 3:12 PM in response to problem22by varjak paw,There may be hardware reasons why it cannot be a feature in the iPad 2. Or it may be contractual with the carriers. We don't know. But you have the feedback page though which you can comment to Apple, should you wish to do so.
Regards.
