Don't have the old computer!

I've read the instructions for transferring music to a new computer using the ipod as a hard drive, but I don't have the old computer. Is there no way of getting the ipod library sync'd to th new laptop? I have downloaded itunes and authorised the new laptop and can see my purchased music in it. Will I have to import all my CDs again?
