    To be specific..

My M-Audio Prokeys 88 works great.

Midi channels seem to be in order - via USB to a Mac Book (OSX 10.6.8)

The EXS default instrument won't respond to the sustain pedal at all.

All other EXS instruments respond to the pedal, but the other way around... i.e. sustained without the pedal, and muted when the pedal is down...

Alecia's Keys NI samples... If I depress the pedal before I play a note - the note won't hold.

When I release the piano key it stops.

Is there a strait forward soluion to this?

    Thank you for your responses.

This sounds like a "polarity" issue with the pedal itself and the keyboard controller: when you put your foot on the pedal the sustain OFF, when you take your foot off the pedal Sustain is ON?

    Several choices:

There may be a switch to reverse this behaviour on the pedal itself

A simple power down of the keyboard, reconnect the pedal, then power up the keyboard might sort it

There may be some adjustments that can be made on the keyboard itself (see it's manual).

ahhh here it is: page 15 of the manual:

    "

I have plugged in a Sustain Pedal to my M-Audio keyboard, but it works the wrong way.

    • The polarity of the Sustain Pedal is determined by the keyboard when it is powered up. On power up, the Sustain Pedal is assumed to be in the OFF position. So, if you want the Sustain Pedal to be off when it is not pressed, make sure the pedal is not pressed when you power up. "
