iTunes 11 Library Problem

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.5 and I just updated to iTunes 11. I had just copied all the hidden music files off my iPod Classic to my mac. I put them in the folder Music>iTunes>iTunes library.

Now, whenever I try to launch iTunes, I get a dialog that says "The iTunes Library file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the “iTunes” folder in the “Music” folder."

I read about this with other users, and I saw the "hold the option button down while launching iTunes. However, it didn't work, presumably because this is iTunes 11.😐 Not sure what to do.

Copying the tunes from the iPod to the Mac does not create a new library. You only copied the music files. You are going to have to launch iTunes with the 'option' key down - then follow the dialogs - yes it does work in iTunes 11. Once that is done you can use CMD+O to add the music files to the library.

iTunes will create a number of files located in the iTunes folder one of which is the iTunes LIbrary file.
