Why doesnt my usb cable connect my ipod to my laptop?

i wanted to restore my ipod touch 4g because i had some problems with the wifi where it says its connected but doesnt work when i use apps like safari facebook youtube etc. whenever i connect the usb cable to the usb wall charger, it charges but when i connect it to my laptop it doesnt work. it used to work just fine but i dont know what happened. i have tried everything and its just not working.

iPod touch, iOS 4.3.3

Try connecting to a different usb port on your laptop. Is your ipod usb cable came from the ipod package? Well we have same situation but mine is just a copy version (bought it very cheap). Mine acts weird when I plug my iPod on power socket and not on the laptop.

You may also try finding another working cable to identify if your issue lies with the usb cable or your laptop's usb port. 🙂
