Red Circle With Number on Dock iPhoto icon

On the iphoto icon on Macbook dock there is a red circle with the number 1. I searched, found out about invites, updates etcetera but, I do not know where these invites are and there are no updates. In notifications I unchecked the badge app icon in photo stream, but it is still there.

Any help appreciated

Someone had commented on a photo I had published to a photo stream. It showed up as a speech bubble in the corner of the photo when I looked in my photo stream.

I have a white 1 in a red circle on my iPhoto icon.

I clicked on the icon, went into iPhoto and then clicked on Photos.

Look at the photos in the iCloud section of the source list - the alert is caused by a shared photo stream. Somebody sent you a new photo in a shared stream or added a comment. Open the shared photo stream in iPhoto and read the comments to clear the alert.

Or disable the notifications for iCloud Photos in the "System Preferences > Notifications > Badge app icon"

Dear Apple,

Having badges to notify user of changes is nice, iff the changes can be easily found. I have this Photos icon with red circle + white 1 on it, and cannot find what is causing the badge. I looked in Photos, Shared, Albums, and Projects with no success.

Please tell me I missed something, or provide an easy way to find out what the badge is for. I dug further and even tried quitting and restarting Photos with no effect. If you are going to let me know something is going on, I should be able to get more details with minimal effort: that is how excellent software is written.

Thank you,

Raven Ray
