Just to complement, if in the USA I believe that by law you must announce to the caller that the call will be recorded at the start. Else risk a pack of rabid hungry lawyers...

Incorrect. There are only 11 states in the USA where you have to consent from both sides of the conversation. In the other 39 states, you only need consent from one side of the conversation (yourself). It is illegal to record a phone call or conversation that you are not a part of.

That is not a true statement Courcoul, the law will vary by state. In Wisconsin you can record phone calls without the other party or parties knowing and you do not have to tell them you are recording.
