macbook pro battery not charging and fan noisy, what's going on?

Hi,

I have a macbook pro 13" late 2011 unibody since 1 year and 3 months.

It was running perfectly since last week when my wife spilled some coke on it. I acted as quick as possible to dry it out in every way I was thinking of (pu it upside down on paper towel, cool hair blower, bag of rice). I waited next monrning to bring it to a recommended laptop repair shop to open it up and clean it properly. The same day in the afternoon the guy called me to tell me that my computer was starting normally and that only the keyboard needed to be replaced.

I have now my laptop back, it starts ok, but I've rapidly noticed that the battery was not charging and that the fan was running loud even if I was not doing anything on it. Plus, the keyboard backlight doesn't work...

I've looked around the internet to find some way to fix that:

- I tried to reset the SMC, it's not working. ctrl+shift+option (left side) but when I pushed the power button the computer starts right away. I've repeated several time but always the same...

- I ran an Apple Hardware Test, the extended one, nothing came out.

- I installed "fan control" and "SMC fan control" to monitor and control the fan speed, but it was even not able to detect the speed of the fans.

My understanding of the problem so far is that:

- it's not material related regarding the result of the AHT (I hope it's not)

- the SMC seems to be "deconnected" and so it cannot detect or control the battery/fan/backlight

So, I don't know what to do next to solve this problem by myself before going to the apple store and loose an arm...

Please help me find a solution !!!!!!

thank you

You're just going to have to take your machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have 'real' Apple service techs diagnose all the things that could possibly be wrong with the machine. It's kind of obvious that the shop you took the unit to didn't know a thing about Apple products - getting it to boot doesn't fix all the problems that can come with liquid damage.

Sorry,
