Wired mouse for iMac

Hello Apple users,

I have a problem, i'm really not that keen on the Apple wired mouse.

Just doesn't feel nice in the hand for prolonged use.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good wired mouse that will work properly with the iMac and that i don't need 3rd party drivers to make it work better?

I have a SteelSeries Kana mouse but with the standard apple drivers it really doesn't work well.

i.e moving the tracking slider 1 notch is the difference between really slow & really fast.

I have tried using SteerMouse as 3rd party drivers, it helps but its still not very accurate especially for editing audio when accuracy is key.

Any help anyone can provide will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Beano.

It's been a while since I've used a wired mouse, but from what I remember, most non Apple mouse will come with it's own installation software that creates a System Preferences/Other. The mouse functions are then controlled via its System Preference.

Most Apple compatible mice will do basic functions out of the box. But to set up more than basic functions you'll need to install the System Preferences.

Any reason for still using a wired mouse?

I do not like Apple's Magic Mouse because, if this is still true, the battery life still dismal.

There are still Infared style wireless mice that use an IR reciever and either use a built-in rechargeable battery or have at least a 6 month life using regular or replaceable lithium batteries.

There are also Bluetooth mice that work much better than Apple's own.

That stated, many mice manufacturers still make wires mice.

Look a Microsoft, Logitech, Kensington, Macally. They will have some mice models that will have additional features that work with Macs.

Good Luck!

MichelPM - I prefer a wired mouse for the reasons mentioned here like battery life etc.

Plus i have quite big hands and with the apple mice both wired & magic mouse, i find them too small for prolonged use.

Only mice i've come across that have mac drivers is Logitech.

I did have the Logitech MX Performance Mouse, but had issues with it, erratic tracking.
