Will iOS 6.1 fix the wifi issues?

I am having wifi connection issues.

I have iOS 6.02.

The wifi connection simply drops at times while The ipad is stationary sitting on the kitchen table.

It's annoying to have to interrupt music or video or whatever and resetting the wifi.

This does not happen with any other wifi connection in the home (4 others) including an original ipad.

This wifi issue was not fixed in 6.02 but my question is whether it will be fixed in iOS 6.1???

I still have the option to return my ipad mini which I might do if iOS 6.1 doesn't fix the issue because , like I said, iOS 6.02 did not.

Does Anyone know the est release date for iOS 6.1? And has Apple confirmed that people STILL have wifi issues In 6.02 and that 6.1 will indeed remedy those issues?

Sorry, but we don't know what fixes iOS 6.1 will bring. We'll have to wait for Apple to release it and see. If your iPad drops connections no matter what WiFI access point it's connected to and the usual reset and restore steps have no effect, you may want to talk to Apple support, or just return the iPad and wait to see what future updates do for others.

Regards.

This is an iPad user to user forum. Apple doesn't read or respond. We have no inside info on what Apple is doing or when new products/software updates will be released.

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

We are all extremely un-happy with Apple's inability to fix the WiFi problem with their tablets. You can see by the number of posts in these forums, that a problem does exist. I'm just about ready to make a personal phone call to the Apple folks and ask to talk to someone. Customer "no service" is alive and well with Apple.

I would say we all would be referring to everyone I'm quite satisfied i would say though wifi is a more complex issue to deal with comparison to syncing etc. I would say if you are having wifi issues the first question you should ask before you go further on voicing your displeasure which will do nothing to accelerate the correction of your issue have you.

Tried restoring the devices a new device nothing on it.

Tested it on more then one wifi network.

These two troubleshooting steps can solve your issue.

If the restore works it's a software conflict.

If it works properly on 2/3 networks properly its your network.

If it still doesn't function then it's the hardware of your device which if you tried these steps and its under warranty I'm sure they would replace it.

Please refrain though from this bashing understand its frustrating but it's doesn't ever... Ever cause quicker progression.

after updating to the new 6.1 i wifi is going on and off. there were a few articles attempting to fix the issue. hard restart and resetting network setting. neither worked for me. what is going on! its bad on my 5 and even worse on by 4. this is completely unacceptable especially if hit that data cap from my provider. anyone have a good answer as to what is going on here. i need to also throw in in case apple is monitoring. My baby monitor is wifi so i have a serious issue with no baby monitor. angy is being nice here

Considering that the vast majority of users are not having WiFi issues (all four of my devices using 6.1, for example, are connecting fine), AND you have the same issue with two different devices, I would think the first thing to look into is your router. Try restarting it, or checking the vendor to see if there is a firmware update available.

As a means of testing, you might try taking one of them out to a local WiFi hotspot and see if you have issue with it.

Its not the router.

I've got an iPad 4, was running iOS6.0.1. Been travelling - have tried wifi in

the lounges in several airports and several hotels over the last couple of weeks.

It has connected to *none* reliably. A couple of times it connected, but then

little data passes.

Updated to iOS6.1. No change so far.

However, it will connect to home and work, both of which run 5GHz and 2.4GHz

networks. I'm wondering if the issue is something to do with 2.4GHz - thats

the most common frequency in hotels and airports due to superior range.

I've travelled all over with my iPad 2 - worked everywhere.

Unless all the routers in all these places have all failed at once... I suspect

iOS and the iPad hardware has a problem.

p.s. I've tried network resets, plus manual connections, switching off 3g and bluetooth.

No luck so far.

I have had this issue since ios 6, just upgraded to ios 6.1 and it is still there. It is only occuring on the ipad, Apple tv is fine as are all other wifi kit in the house. Only drops when streaming video or running app updates. i now have 30 half updated apps driving me nuts. In the uk there was talk that BT Hub 3 users may be the victims but it sounds like a wider problem. I am frustrated as this specific mode of dropping out gets confused with others. Every drop out means going into settings reselecting my hub and i am up and running again.

it would be useful if each bug could be recognised by a name. I will call this streaming wifi dropout and manual reconnect... :0)

Good luck to us all
