Please help: just pasted over an entire (very important) note in an epic fat-finger touch. Please let me know if there is a "command Z" type action I might be able to take to undo, go back, etc. I have not connected phone to sync just yet to see what might be backed up- until I know if there is any way to retrieve the most recent info I just lost. Desperately hoping for an answer out there.

Thank you for sharing this tip or answer. I intinally was upset thinking that Apple did not have this feature in any of its mobile iOS devices . alert after you shake: Undo & Redo, cancel. You can undo everything back to the start with blank/ empty notes / empty note then move forward redo
You cannot view the contents of your backup file. Your backup does contain notes, but if you can't remember when you last backed up relative to when you created or revised the note, then you can try checking the date stamp of the backup file to see when it was last done (or, if you backup to iCloud then your Settings will tell you).

Shake the device and tap Undo Typing.
I don't know of any undo command that might help you. It might be a good thing to suggest to Apple though.

If you did a backup that contains the note, you can restore and re-load that backup to recover the note.
Try it. It should work as long as you didn't exit the app or move to a different note.
Sigh. Going now to see how much was backed up. Is the only way to see backed up notes to actually connect my iphone? Is there a way to view the last backed-up data just on the mac?

on iPhone works great! Just shakes left and right and get a pop up saying: Undo, Redo, or Cancel.
